A roadtrip to the St. Mary's Glacier, Colorado.
After months of touring my husband and I planned a 3-week road trip from Colorado to Utah, and then back to Colorado again. We rented a car after landing and drove from one of my favorite/beautiful airports in the country, Denver International Airport. These controversial murals, are jaw-dropping, “Children of the World Dream of Peace” and definitely something to check-out before heading to your destination.
We then drove north to our first stop in Winter Park, Colorado at the southern edge of Frasier Valley. This little ski town is about 9,000 ft in elevation and is covered in snow for about half the year. I'm not a skier, so coming out here in the summer was way more appealing and also more affordable because of the off-season. We took day-hikes and road trips to some of the highest peaks throughout Loveland, Tabernash and Granby and returned to our basecamp in Winter Park after our adventures.
I love this photo taken by my other half, the colors in the sky, the light, even the sunshine reflecting off the glaciers brings me back to that beautiful place, St. Mary's Glacier in the Arapaho Forest. We hiked up the side of the snow field to get close to the melting ice, ate some Cliff bars, drank some dank coffee and decided we would return again after we had a family one day.
Four years later, we are now a family of 3 and hope to hike this inspiring place one more with our son. Opt-outside, spending time outdoors changes your perspective and brings peace to a busy mind and spirit.
Peace + Love,
